It was another wonderful camping trip with some of our closest friends. Despite a forecast of 70% chance of rain, we decided to leave Friday morning for Mocassin Creek State Park, located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. The Lord not only held off the rains the entire weekend, but blessed us with a beautiful weekend amongst the green shade trees and pristine views of Lake Burton. As is our routine, we set up camp on Friday afternoon and then ended the day with smores, and wonderful fellowship around the campfire.

We started Saturday morning off bright and early with the smell of bacon in the air. After a delicious breakfast, Anneliese enjoyed playing with a some of her best buds while the older kids spent their morning fishing in the creek. Saturday afternoon we went to a nearby water slide where several braved the freezing water to take a short but exhilarating ride down a huge rock into a pool of cold water.

Of course Saturday night brought the traditional covered dish supper with lots of goodies to go around. This time we had the pleasure of gathering around a pavilion with tables, lots of grass and many rounds of horse shoes (late into the evening).

It was a special time to be able to sit around the shore of Lake Burton with such dear friends. They are what really make these camping trips so special. Time slows down and you get to "visit" with those you never have enough time to know better. What joy, what memories. Can't wait 'til next time!!
